Your Basics is an art school prep program designed for Atlanta Public High School juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a college arts education.
At the request of APS high school educators, WonderRoot representatives and affiliated teaching artists can visit arts classrooms or after-school clubs to facilitate workshops that prepare students for a future career in the arts. Through Your Basics, students can learn about the art school admission process, enhance their writing and communication skills, learn how to document their artwork, and assemble a strong portfolio.
WonderRoot provides these workshops at no cost to the school or students.
Workshop topics include:
- Understanding the college admissions process
- How to write an artist statement
- Analyzing art and the function of artwork
- Arts programs, fellowships, and potential art careers
- Documenting your work and portfolio development
