WonderRoot is an Atlanta-based 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization committed to uniting artists and community to inspire positive social change.
Objectives
• to provide production facilities to Atlanta-based artists • to facilitate arts-based service programs in the Atlanta community • to encourage artists to be proactive in engaging their local communities through service work

WonderRoot was founded in 2004 in response to Atlanta's need for an organization that unites artists and community advocacy. We believe that artists have the potential to change the world. Musicians, photographers, writers, filmmakers, and artists of all other mediums have the ability to communicate globally moving freely through the barriers of language and geographical restraints. In a society that receives much of its information through the media, the most effective way to implement positive change is through using media resources. We are artists giving back to the community that has done so much to inspire us.

In 2003, artists and friends Chris Appleton, Alex West, and Witt Wisebram began talking about forming a nonprofit organization that would promote socially conscious art and meet the needs of Atlanta's art community. There were ideas of artist co-ops and collaboratives. We wanted to help artists make their imprint on the world. Art has the ability to inspire change among communities. Ultimately the early ideas evolved to what WonderRoot has become today.

In 2004, WonderRoot was formed as an organization that is committed to uniting artists and community to inspire positive social change. Since that time we have talked about the best ways to implement our vision of helping people in the Atlanta community. We regularly carry out service projects that help artists, children, and Atlanta's citizens in need. In the past three years we have facilitated the production and exposure of numerous artists work. In exchange for our services we encourage those artists to be engaged with their own communities by carrying our service projects.

In late 2006, WonderRoot, received its 501(c)(3) federally tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service. Since that time we have been creating a plan to implement and realize our vision.

In early 2008, WonderRoot moved into its new home. On May 1, WonderRoot Community Arts Center is launched to the public and our dream of uniting artists and community is one step closer.
